The Biggest Loser Throws Its Weight Around

Helen Phillips might as well have dropped all 140 of her shed pounds on American Idol.

Tuesday's Phillips-topping Biggest Loser finale scored the franchise's best numbers among weight-watching 18-49-year-olds in two-and-a-half years, NBC said, and seemingly put the squeeze on Idol.

The three-hour The Biggest Loser averaged 11.8 million viewers, per preliminary Nielsen estimates, and capped off its its most-watched season in four years.

Idol, meanwhile, offered up one of its strongest-ever Top Three performance nights—except in Nielsen department. Airing opposite the beefed-up Loser in the 8 p.m. hour, the Adam-Danny-Kris show was down about 1.5 million viewers from last Tuesday (night-best 21.8 million versus 23.4 million).

The Biggest Loser is a really great show! It is amazing to see how these people undergo such an enormous body transformation! Season 7 is over, however it airs every Tuesday @ 8:00 pm. Usually the new season begins approximately 2 - 3 months following the last season.

You know I am a member of about 34 Ning sites myself and have found that my time unfortunately does not allow participation with all of them. As a result, I primarily focus on the health and fitness related sites for the most part. Although the sites I am currently a member of are awesome sites, it is vital that I do not divert from my goals and commitments.

It is great hearing from you! I wish you all the success with your book. I look forward to purchasing a copy.

BTW! Who's your favorite finalist on the American Idol? Adam or Kris? Although Kris is terrific, Adam is my FAVORITE!! It's funny, I actually joined an Adam Lambert Social Network ( I know! It's not health related, but I couldn't help myself!). My husband has realized that he has make room for Adam!! :)

Maureen, thanks for the info! I have never been a fan of "reality shows" even though I was on one of the first -- American Gladiators. But I always watch American Idol with my 12-year-old daughter–it is our bonding time. I have never seen the Biggest Loser! Is it a good show–should I watch it and when is it on? Sounds like it is popular! PS--sorry I haven't been very active on your sites but in the middle of moving and thinking about downsizing my NING to focus more on my blogs and other social networks for my book! Any advice on on which NING sites to stay on other than yours?
